Hi everyone,
I am pleased to announce that we have a new sub-group of EEP called JEEP. That stands for Junior Enrichment and Extension Program. This group consists of students from Prep to Year 2 and we are all very excited about being part of the program. We began our sessions discussing the different forms of pollution that we know about: Air, water, land and noise. Today we walked around our school playground to see whether there was any pollution right under our noses!! We took some videos a… Continue
We have been working on our projects about pollution and poverty over the last few weeks. The students are working on several group and invidual projects which we are looking forward to sharing with you. These include: t-shirt designs, songs, picture books, TV adds, animations and posters. We have found out a great deal of information about pollution and poverty through our research and there are some important messages we would like to share with you all soon. Continue
The last time our EEP group met together we decided on our major project.
We decided to broadcast a radio programme for our whole campus. The aim of our radio programme will be to teach the Preps, Year 1, 2 and 3s a little bit about poverty and pollution.
We are planning to braodcast over the P.A. system at school sometime next term while people are eating their lunch in their classroom.
At the moment, we are not quite sure if we are going to broadcast everyday for a week or whether we will bro… Continue
A Recycling Poem!
When I look out my window I think what a pity,
Do we live in a dump or live in a city?
So start looking after the planet, it's the thing to do!
There's only one person who can make a change and it's you.
Put your glass in a recycling bin, don't put it with the rest.
I'm sick of pulling glass out from the tip, it's a pest!
Everybody put your rubbish in the bin.
So we can save the world that we live in!
Why are the animals becoming extinct?
I'll tell you why it's because of o… Continue
Ms Whelan's EEP group have been very busy gathering and sharing information about Poverty and Pollution. We have discovered some very interesting facts and we are continuing to increase our knowledge and awareness of these important issues in our lives. Continue
Last week we got together in two groups to brainstorm the different ways that the Year 2 and 3s could help get their message out about Poverty and Pollution.
Here are some of the ideas we came up with:
POLLUTION (Year 2)
* Write an article for the newspaper
* Write a book to share with children at school
* We could design an anti-pollution t-shirt
* We could design a website to share with others
* Create posters for display around the school
* Write an anti-pollution jingle/song
* Make a TV co… Continue
Think --> Puzzle --> Explore (Week 3)During Week 3 we all completed a Think --> Puzzle --> Explore activity.
The Year 2 children focused on Pollution while the Year 3 children looked at Poverty.
We talked about the information we already know, questions we had and then how we could further explore each topic. Here are some of the things we came up with:
POLLUTION
* Why do lots of people use petrol?
* Why don't more people ride bikes?
* Why do people smoke?
* Why do more peop… Continue
Hi everyone,
At our EEP session this week we discussed Poverty and Pollution and came up with our wonderings. Here they are:
Pollution:
• What causes the most pollution?
• How could we stop pollution?
• Why is there pollution?
• Why do people throw rubbish on the ground?
• Can pollution lead to fire?
• Why do people smoke?
• Why do people deliberately light bushfires?
• What is the most polluted country in the world?
• China burns paper, cell phones and houses. How about burning that bad habit?… Continue
Today we all met during period 2. We looked around the 'If I could change the world' website and got to know our own page. We also visited Mrs Whelan's group's page and left them a comment.
Our activity today saw the Year 2 children exporing pollution, while the Year 3 children looked at poverty. We completed a THINK --> PUZZLE --> EXPLORE activity to see what we all already knew and where we could go from there.
We are looking forward to meeting again next week to see if we can begin t… Continue
Hi everyone,
Well, here we are starting the year for 2009.

Perhaps if you are new to the site, or returning after a break, you could share what makes your part of the world unique. Share what makes it s… Continue

They will focus on different ways that we can keep our school clean and tidy. We will show you some examples when they are ready.
